CeeLo Green Returned to The Voice and Gave Blake Shelton a Surprise Performance
The Voice Season 23 finale included a star-studded lineup of visits from former Coaches, all for the cowboy.
The Season 23 finale of The Voice is upon us, and ahead of the thrilling reveal of which Artist will claim the crown, fans get to enjoy some delightful guest performances from past Coaches to honor Blake Shelton, who is leaving the show after 12 years. Fans were delighted once former Coach CeeLo Green popped in for a medley performance of '80s songs, joined by legendary Voice alums Chloe Kohanski, Cam Anthony, Wendy Moten, and bodie.
Along with Shelton, Adam Levine, and Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green is one of The Voice O.G.s, appearing in a red chair during Seasons 1-3 and Season 5 of the competition, as well as serving as a Battle Advisor in Season 4 and Season 15 and a Top 8 Advisor to Team Blake in Season 8. Many fans miss the playful banter between Shelton and CeeLo Green, so it was delightful seeing them reunite.
Shelton announced he was leaving The Voice in October 2022, and fans have been mentally preparing themselves ever since. The decision didn't come lightly for Shelton, who says the show has elevated his life in many ways.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after Season 23,” Shelton revealed in a statement. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew, and catering people; you are the best."
"It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week. I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one my fellow Coaches over the years, including my wife Gwen Stefani!" Shelton concluded. "I have to give a huge shoutout to the singers–the ‘Voices,’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent, and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their Coach."
