Magician Shin Lim Astonished AGT Audiences — Where Is He Now?
The awe-inspiring winner of America's Got Talent Season 13 said he once almost gave up on magic.
The mesmerizing magician who won an America’s Got Talent franchise twice — the only Act to achieve this incredible feat — now has one of the top-selling live shows in Vegas, Limitless, at the Mirage Hotel & Casino.
On August 30, Shin Lim took a break from Sin City, and dropped by AGT Season 18’s Live Results Show, where he performed a charming (and mind-bending) card trick to wish the competing contestants good luck. But not long ago, the winner of Season 13 and “The Champions” came close to giving up on magic altogether.
Where is Shin Lim now?
The pandemic might have derailed Shin Lim’s incredible career if it wasn't for his wife. The 31-year-old Canadian married Casey Thomas, a dancer from Australia, in 2019, and Lim credits her for keeping him on track.

“I didn’t leave the house for a whole year… I didn’t practice. I wasn’t in the right headspace, so I purposely did not do magic,” he told The Wrap in a 2021 interview.
It was Shin’s wife, Casey, who nudged him back to the stage, encouraging a new approach to magic after the pandemic.
“People are hostile, and they’re confused,” he said in 2021. “I didn’t know how the audience was going to react. However, it was in that moment that I knew that I had to make a change to the show. The show pre-pandemic was different. We were all different then. So we had to go deeper with this show, and instead of thrill them, maybe we inspire them.”
After a year-long break, Lim triumphantly returned to Limitless, reaching its 400th show milestone in April. Five nights a week, Lim dazzles audiences with close-up magic and sleight-of-hand card tricks. A classically trained pianist, Lim suffered a bout of carpal tunnel syndrome in college, preventing him from pursuing a music career. In “Limitless,” he incorporates his two passions, music and magic; rarely speaking during his performance, all of his illusions are choreographed to music.
Colin Cloud, an AGT alum from Season 12, joins Lim on the Vegas stage to stoke even more mystery as part of his act. Colin is a mentalist who once studied forensic science to become a criminal profiler but couldn’t resist his true calling: mind reading.
Before the two competed on AGT: The Champions, Cloud and Lim met in 2018 while in the Broadway show The Illusionists, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
When not wowing the AGT Judges or headlining in Vegas, Lim enjoys downtime with his wife, Casey.
He has taken a break from social media, where he once shared mind-boggling magic tricks on TikTok and Instagram, but fans can still find an array of intriguing merchandise on his website, from luxury card sets to short video courses of his best tricks.
When interviewed by local Las Vegas news station Fox5 in March, Lim was asked if he was ready for another 400 shows.
“I hope so, yes. I want to do this,” he replied. “It is a dream come true, as a magician, to be able to perform on the Strip. Ever since I was 18 and I came to Vegas for the first time, I saw Lance Burton, and he was kinda like my idol, and I was like, oh, that’s exactly who I want to be when I grow up…and I still can’t believe I’m here.”
