The Irrational’s Alec Mercer just may have found himself an investigative adversary.

How to Watch

Watch The Irrational Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC and next day on Peacock

Brian King takes on the role of Jace Richards, the cool, calm, and collected FBI agent who has eyes for Alec’s ex-wife, Marisa Clark (Maahra Hill)

Marisa confided to Alec (Jesse L. Martin) that although the budding romance was still new, the two FBI agents have officially started seeing one another. So, who is this romantic rival?

What role does Brian King play on The Irrational

On the surface, the two men’s interactions have been nothing but cordial, but it’s clear there’s some subtle tension bubbling under the surface. For one thing, they now both have a romantic past with Marisa, but  Alec and Jace also don’t always see eye-to-eye about interrogation techniques or investigation strategies.

When the trio find themselves investigating a deadly plane crash together, Alec is quick to point out his disapproval of Jace’s methods.

“That approach usually work for him?” Alec asked his ex-wife as they both watched the interrogation.

“It does,” Marisa slowly replied.

But when Jace failed to get the suspect to open up, Alec, a behavioral science professor, convinced his former wife to cut the suspect loose in order to let him have a go at him at a local bar (despite Jace’s clear objections).

And after Alec succeeded at getting the suspect to give him the critical clue that blew open the case, we can only assume Jace wasn’t thrilled.
