Sylvie Brett's Departure During Chicago Fire Season 10, Explained
The paramedic has been missing from Chicago Fire for one too many episodes.
Paramedic Sylvie Brett, played by actress Kara Killmer, has been a part of the Chicago Fire family since Season 3. So, it's understandable that her extended absence during Season 10 hasn't gone unnoticed by fans, begging the question: Where is Brett? We answer that below, in addition to finding out whether or not Brett will ever return to Firehouse 51 or Ambulance 61.
Why did Sylvie Brett leave Chicago Fire Season 10?
The simple answer? To be with her boyfriend, fellow fan favorite Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer). Chicago Fire Season 10, Episode 15, titled "The Missing Piece," was the last time we saw Brett this season. Since Casey left for Portland in the series' 200th episode, the couple has been trying their best to make long distance work. However, FaceTime was not enough and the time apart was getting to Brett.
"I need to take some real time off," she said to Violet (Hanako Greensmith) during the episode. “I need to spend some actual time with Matt, reconnect. I just got hit by this wave of all the things I miss about him. That warmth, you know? The way he could be so strong, but also kind, and he has that gift of making everyone feel like everything’s going to be OK.”
Is Brett coming back to Chicago Fire after Season 10?
ChiHards, the good news is it seems Brett will return to our screens this season. The first indication was co-showrunners Derek Haas and Andrea Newman's confirmation that Casey is appearing in the Season 10 finale. He's set to be the best man at Kelly Severide's (Taylor Kinney) and Stella's Kidd's (Miranda Rae Mayo) wedding. Newman told TVLine we'll “see a Casey who is in a very happy and content place in terms of life [in Oregon], and the big question mark is his relationship with Brett.”
Haas went on to spill that it's very likely Brett will be joining Casey in Chicago. "It is our great expectation that we will see both Casey and Brett in the finale, because giant, big exciting things are going to be happening," he said. "This will be the best finale ever, I'll go ahead and say it."
One Chicago is currently on a brief hiatus and will return Wednesday, May 11 to NBC. Catch up now on NBC.com.
