Why Some of Your Favorite Chicago P.D. Cops May Be Getting Promotions
There may be a few detectives in the Intelligence Unit in the future...
After 10 seasons with the Intelligence Unit, it may finally be time for some officers to get a much-deserved promotion.
In recognizing that this fall marks the 10th season of Chicago P.D. and will include the crime drama's 200th episode, TV Line recently asked showrunner Gwen Sigan a very important question: Are there are any plans to up Atwater, Ruzek, or Burgess' rank to detective? After all, they did just get awarded for pulling off the biggest drug bust in Chicago history.

Sigan teased to the publication that the writers are "definitely playing with” the idea of giving the team some new titles.
She continued, “We haven’t figured out exactly what we plan on doing with it, but it’s something that’s been there for years. I would love to see some movement there and get to see some detective badges come in.”
So, what's happening on the show? Well, while things seem particularly bleak between Upstead, Voight's clearly still struggling with Anna's death (whether he admits it or not), and Burzek is slowly making strides in their relationship. We have a promise from Sigan that all will turn around for the Intelligence Unit in the coming episodes.
"The season is not going to be all dark," she told Deadline. "The theme we’re going for this year is savior and we’re looking at this question: Can the broken be saved? So we will see some saving happening this season as well."
Watch Chicago P.D. on NBC Wednesdays at 10/9c and next day on Peacock.
