Yes, Chef! Is "More Than a Competition": Martha & José Serve Up a First Look at New Cooking Series

A sneak peek just dropped for the most anticipated cooking show of the season: Yes, Chef!
The new cooking competition Yes, Chef! hasn’t premiered yet, but we can tell things will get spicy in the kitchen. The show, premiering on NBC April 28, spotlights 12 highly confident and skilled chefs as they jump through hoops to impress co-hosts and judges Martha Stewart and José Andrés, both of whom are quick to call out these "diva" chefs!

Each contestant on the show has grappled with a personal issue that has been holding them back in their careers. So Yes, Chef! will not only test the contestants' cooking chops but will also require attitude adjustments to reach their full potential.

“We’re giving them challenges that really focus on their problems,” Martha explained in the new sneak peek.
Judging by the new footage, hot tempers, stubbornness, and perfectionism will be on the menu, along with many mouth-watering culinary creations. We can also expect sage advice and no-nonsense guidance from the two legends presiding over the kitchen antics.
“This is more than a competition. This is a chance to transform your career and yourselves,” José said. “They’re brave because they are not facing each other. They are facing themselves."
Each episode of Yes, Chef! consists of two challenges, beginning with a team exercise to test leadership skills. José and Martha will choose a winning team from that first challenge, and one chef from the winning team will earn the coveted title of MVC (Most Valuable Chef). The MVC will then go head-to-head in a cookoff, but it has a special twist. They’ll be given a difficult decision to make that will play a big role in who gets eliminated that week. With a grand prize of $250,000 at the end of the competition, a lot is at stake.
Not only is Yes, Chef! bringing these talented chefs to our screens, but it's also introducing Martha and José's incredibly charming dynamic. As masters of their craft, the co-hosts are at the top of their game. But that doesn't mean they can't see eye-to-eye with some of the hot-tempered contestants.

In the first look, José even teases Martha about being a perfectionist.
“I am, I sympathize with these chefs,” she admitted. “I think the improvement might be massive.”
How to watch Yes, Chef!
Yes, Chef! premieres on Monday, April 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, following a new episode of The Voice. Each episode will be available to stream on Peacock the next day.
