Danica Patrick is a professional racecar driver. Considered a pioneer for women in the sport, she raced for both IndyCar and NASCAR, becoming the first woman to hold the lead during the Indianapolis 500, in 2009, and scoring the highest finish (eighth place) for a woman in the Daytona 500, in 2003. Patrick announced her retirement from racing in 2017 and will finish her career at the Indianapolis 500 on May 27.
