Injoy was raised by a family friend who enrolled her in an elementary school with a great arts program. Injoy quickly fell in love with theater and performed in numerous plays and musicals. She moved to New York to study theater in college and spent the next decade hustling as a soul singer with some success. She was a background singer in Condola Rashad’s band and later toured Europe and Aruba with the traveling production of “Rent.” Unfortunately, money was still tight, and after becoming a single mom, Injoy decided to move back to Wichita where she’s currently a DJ and karaoke host.
