CHECHI SARAI

Bio

Chechi is a first-generation Nigerian-American whose full name means "God's wish" in Igbo. From age 13, Chechi began writing songs and turning heads with her whistle notes. Never thinking that music was an option as a career, Chechi went to college to study medicine. However, when she decided she wanted to pursue music instead, the transition was tough, especially in Michigan. Finding her artistry took time, and her final push was when she opened for Brian McKnight, which motivated her to take the plunge. Now having been in Los Angeles for the past six years, Chechi has made a name for herself. This year she performed with Lizzo at the Grammys doing background vocals. She has also been in Kanye West's Sunday Service Choir. She fully supports herself with music and has finally convinced her mom that music is what she's meant to do.
