A high-level investigative source confirms to NBC News that an FAA air traffic control supervisor in the tower at Reagan National Airport allowed another supervisor to leave early, leaving one supervisor to handle both plane traffic and helicopter traffic on the night of the fatal collision between an American Airlines jet and a Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, D.C. Investigators also plan to look into the chopper's altitude and whether that played a role in the incident. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY.
