During Adam Levine's April 9 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, he admitted to embarrassing himself during one of the biggest duets of his career.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

At 2005's Live 8 concert in Philadelphia, Levine joined Stevie Wonder on stage for a mesmerizing version of the classic 1970 hit, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)." It was a watershed moment for Levine, whose band, Maroon 5, was blowing up thanks to chart-toppers like "She Will Be Loved" and "This Love." However, the current Voice star admitted to Howard Stern that he actually messed up the duet as soon as it began!

"I actually kind of f----d up the song a little bit," Levine revealed, using his favorite curse word. "You can see it. It's on video. I'm sure it'll make you laugh later, but I'm like, all cool, man. I'm acting like I'm not freaked out 'cause I was early in my career."

Levine wasn't afraid to be honest about how bad he thought his screw-up was.

"It was like total gibberish…I think I made it so that it wasn't that noticeable, but I got it wrong," he confessed. "I started singing the second verse. I was a f---ing mess. And then finally I kind of settled in. I turned around. The band was like smiling. I'm like, 'OK. I didn't totally s--t the bed.'"

So, what was the reason behind the epic mess-up? Was it nerves? Did Levine not know the lyrics to the iconic song?

As it turns out, the rocker flubbed the words because, almost unbelievably, there was no rehearsal for the performance at all.

"I can't even fathom it. As much as I hate rehearsal, I would've liked to rehearse for this, too," Levine said. "I was f---ing like, just so amazed. So I show up and they're like, 'Just show up and play the song. Study the Motown recording.' I'm like, 'OK.' So I listen to this song, this version of this song that everybody knows, prepared myself as well as I could. And then I saw him about five minutes before we played, met him for the first time, which was incredible… and then he kind of talked me through what I was gonna do in front of a million people in 10 minutes from now."

When the great Stevie Wonder says he doesn't need to rehearse, you don't question it. However, it's safe to say that the future Season 27 Coach of The Voice could've used a run-through or two with Wonder and his band beforehand!

How badly did Adam Levine mess up the lyrics to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)"?

Was the slip-up as bad as Levine says it was? We'll let you decide.

The moment was immortalized forever on YouTube, and although we didn't notice it at first, Levine slip up the lyrics as soon as the performance begins!

Instead of singing "Like a fool I went and stayed too long / Now I'm wondering if your love's still strong," the Maroon 5 frontman sang, "Like a fool I went and stayed too long / Now I'm back and I'm, uh, so strong."

(Whoops!)

Levine's correct. He mixed up the lyrics of the track's first two verses. But fans in attendance didn't seem to notice, and the rest of the song went off without a hitch. This performance of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" will live on forever as one of his best duets!
