AGT 11 Winner Grace VanderWaal is Debuting Brand New Music in a Special Concert
The 19-year-old first won our hearts during her unforgettable 2016 audition.
Grace Vanderwaal has an exciting new career update!
According to the America's Got Talent Season 11 Winner's official Instagram page, she made a big move to The Big Apple recently. There, the 19-year-old will be performing two shows in Brooklyn singing some of her upcoming original music.
"Hi friendsss✨Some of you know I just made the move to NYC and I wanted to play some local shows for you guys. Performing around Brooklyn playing tons of unreleased music come if you wanna hang out🖤 Link in bio for tix ;)," she captioned the post. Tickets for the June 7 show can be bought here, and tickets for the June 10 show can be bought here.
Vanderwaal has certainly been busy since her AGT win in 2016. The talented singer and actress will have a role alongside Aubrey Plaza and Adam Driver in a new film titled Megapolis, which will also be directed by the one and only Francis Ford Coppola.
But what exactly will Megapolis be about? “The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems in this epic story of political ambition, genius, and dangerous love,” the logline states. However, little is currently known about the nature of Vanderwaal's role in the project.
Coppola himself told Deadline that he enjoyed working with the dedicated cast during filming. "This is a beautiful film and primarily so because the cast is so great. I’ve never enjoyed working with a cast who are so hardworking and so willing to go search for the unconventional, to come upon hidden solutions. It is a thrill to work with these actors and the photography is everything I could hope for," he said. Filming of Megapolis wrapped up in April, and we're excited to see what Vanderwaal brings to the big screen.
In a 2021 interview with LadyGunn, Vanderwaal opened up about how being the second youngest contestant to win AGT has shaped her artistic pursuits.
“I think expression is most important to me now,” she said. “Before, I really wanted to just sound really deep. I would say something that felt really good to say and to be like ‘OK, how can I make this into something.’ Now, if imagery or metaphors or that way of speaking comes up, that’s incredible. If that’s naturally what my soul needs to clear out, love it. If that isn’t happening, love it. My priorities I guess are a little different now.”
