The Family in New Peacock Show Apples Never Fall Has Disturbing Secrets: Watch the Trailer
The family at the heart of the Peacock series based on Liane Moriarty's bestseller looks perfect — but is anything but.
Another exciting new show is coming to Peacock!
Peacock’s eagerly anticipated dramatization of the twisty mystery novel, Apples Never Fall, will steam in March 2024. The series, which will star Sam Neill, Annette Bening, Alison Brie, Jake Lacey, and more, follows a family that's seemingly perfect. However, when the matriarch goes missing, the cracks in the family's facade start to become exposed.
The book, written by Big Littles Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers author Liane Moriarty, was an instant hit, with fans eagerly awaiting a television adaption. Here's everything to know about the show.
What is Apples Never Fall About?
Based on Liane Moriarty’s New York Times bestseller, the story focuses on the Delaney family, whose lives seem perfect. First-look images capture them on a sunny tennis court, smiling for a group photo, taking a spin on a bike, and dining together, for example.
But look closer and cracks and flaws come into view. That becomes clear when former tennis coaches Stan (Sam Neill) and Joy (Annette Bening) sell their sports academy and retire. The couple’s plan is to spend more time with their four adult children, but the arrival of a troubled young woman upends everything. Things get more complicated when Joy vanishes — and the Delaneys are forced to face very unsettling secrets.
When does Apples Never Fall premiere?
The series is coming to Peacock in March 14, 2024.
Executive producers on Apples Never Fall
“I’ve never been able to resist a story that feels like an immersive vacation from life...and yet is deliciously about life,” Melanie Marnich, the Peacock series writer, showrunner, and executive producer, said in a press release.
For Marnich, “the Delaneys had something to say to all of us.” In addition to diving into the complexities of love and a longtime marriage, the show gets real about “brutal sacrifices parents make … and what it takes to be a working mother and wife,” she added.
Executive producer David Heyman echoed her excitement about adapting a book by the same author of Big Little Lies.
“Watching the Delaney family — whose perfect veneer masks a myriad of secrets — as they begin to unravel is at times wickedly funny, at others tender and moving, but always gripping,” he said in the release.“Liane’s characters are vivid, complex and the story she tells is about how those we hold dearest can hurt us the most.”
Acting alongside Neill and Bening as the Delaney children are Alison Brie, Jake Lacy, Conor Merrigan-Turner, and Essie Randles.
“Ultimately, Apples Never Fall is a very honest show about what it means to be a part of a very complicated family,” said Marnich, who shared an ongoing observation by the team of writers. “Something really bad might’ve happened at the Delaneys ... but you still wanna swing by for a gin and tonic.”
Watch Apples Never Fall when it streams on Peacock in March.
