On May 12, Blake Shelton reached a major milestone by getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To celebrate this achievement, the cowboy had a ceremony where he was honored by his wife, Gwen Stefani, The Voice Host Carson Daly, and even his OG Coach rival, Adam Levine (whose band Maroon 5 will perform in The Voice Season 23 finale).

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

During the gathering, Levine first took to the podium to deliver a sweet speech about his friend Shelton. "I'm really proud of you, man, and I love you," Levine said after poking some fun at the country star. "This is a big deal."

When the speeches were all said and done and the star was officially placed, Shelton and Levine posed for some photos. And per the request of a photographer, Shelton landed a big friendly smooch on Levine's cheek as the audience laughed and let out some claps.

Watch the moment around the 43:50 mark in the video here.

While Shelton had some country hits under his belt in the 2000s, his long-running gig on The Voice is truly what launched him into the mainstream spotlight. In an interview with Access, the "God's Country" singer explained how he was swayed to be a Coach on the show.

“The first time I was pitched The Voice, I thought it was the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard in my life. I mean I…that’s the truth, I just thought, ‘Well what the hell is this? Like a combination of Wheel of Fortune and music and, like, these spinning chairs, what is that?’” he said.

However, he eventually changed his mind when he learned more about the process. “My manager, y’know, he wouldn’t let it go, and thank God, because he said, ‘Just watch this DVD,’" Shelton explained.  "And he had a DVD of the Holland version of The Voice, which is where it came from, and I watched it. And I thought, ‘OK, that does look super fun. I gotta admit.’ You know, as goofy as the idea is, it looks like it could work."

He continued, “I remember asking my manager at the time, I was like, 'Well, who else is doing this?’ and the first name that he said was Christina Aguilera, and I remember going, ‘OK, I’m in!’" he said. "I mean I’ve heard of her. Who am I to say no? I was nobody y’know? And to know that she had already signed on, I was like, 'I want to work at that level, so I’m in.' And thank God, y’know, I didn’t let my stupidity get in the way of what ended up being the best decision maybe I’ve ever made in my life.”

Looks like Shelton was right about that, as he now has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
