Think before you ink. By all accounts, Niall Horan, who’s been offering invaluable advice to vocalists as a first-time Coach on The Voice, has let that advice sink in more than skin deep.
While many of Horan's friends have shown off an array of tattoos, Horan himself has a different perspective on body ink for himself. Here's what to know about Niall Horan and tattoos.
Does Niall Horan Have Tattoos?
So, does Horan have a tattoo? It wouldn’t be remarkable if he did. Tattoos are oh-so-common for virtually everyone these days, especially musicians.
In the past, Horan has made it clear that unlike his former One Direction bandmates who all have multiple tattoos, including a matching one on their ankles, he has resisted getting permanently inked.
Why? Because Horan is afraid of the needle.
“All the lads have screws on them,” he told Glamour UK. “I’m just too scared to do it.”
However, he has come very close.
Horan doubled down on his dislike of needles during a One Direction appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden.
The segment featured a game of “Tattoo Roulette,” played by the show’s host and the 1D members. Each chose one of five boxes. Inside four boxes was the word “safe,” and in one of them was the word “tattoo.”
It came down to Horan and Harry Styles after the other three were marked safe. Horan breathed a sigh of relief — actually he jumped up and down like a zealous fan at a concert — when Styles ended up getting the tat.
Has Niall Horan Ever Gotten a Temporary Tattoo?
Despite candidly expressing his fear of the process of getting permanent body art, Horan has faced the topic of tattoos on a number of occasions. One of them came when Corden hosted the British game show, A League of Their Own.
Horan agreed to get a temporary tattoo of Corden’s face for the comedy panel show. And he got it in a very cheeky place where the sun don’t shine.
“We tattooed it onto his left buttock,” Corden said, according to E! Online. “It took him three weeks to get rid of it.”
Horan also one got a fake tattoo of a fern on his forearm to match his 1D mates.
Will Niall Horan Ever Get a Tattoo?
With a couple of temporary tats in his rearview, could Horan be warming up to the idea of a permanent one? Stay tuned. His 2019 song release “Nice to Meet Ya” might suggest it's a possibility.
“I like the way you talk, I like the things you wear. I want your number tattooed on my arm in ink, I swear.”
But for now, it appears that he’ll rely on his contacts file for important phone digits. He told Wired that he “has zero tattoos, I’m not craving them. There are other things I would like to do with my money and my time.”
That includes guiding contestants on Season 23 of The Voice, alongside Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and Chance the Rapper, who, by the way, has called the tattoo inked on his chest “stupid.”
