Is There A New Dateline on Tonight? (April 4, 2025)
Dateline’s Andrea Canning reports on the murder of a Kansas couple.
Believe it or not, but Dateline has officially celebrated its 33rd birthday! For over three decades, the dedicated team of correspondents has investigated hundreds of true crime cases, sat down for exclusive interviews directly from prison, and reported on possible new evidence.
While Dateline’s well-known gripping style of storytelling has remained the same, the way a case is investigated has changed through the years. As correspondent Dennis Murphy explained in a video in honor of the show’s 33rd birthday, Dateline’s history “goes back before cell phones commonly had cameras, it goes back before doorbells had videos, and people were texting messages back and forth.”
“Journalism was pretty different, crime-fighting was absolutely different. There was no tracking somebody’s phone, there was no reading their text messages,” correspondent Josh Mankiewicz added. “It’s a different world in crime-fighting and certainly in covering crime-fighting.”
Season 33 of Dateline has been full of engrossing episodes, from the latest on “Doomsday Mom” Lori Vallow Daybell to a sit-down interview with Karen Read.
So what’s happening this week on Dateline? Read on for everything you need to watch on Friday night.
