Kodi Lee's Run on AGT Season 14 Was One for the Books
This musical prodigy stole the show.
Kodi Lee on AGT Season 14 was unforgettable. He won the season back in 2019, and it's obvious why. Lee is a musical prodigy with powerhouse performance capabilities, perfect pitch, audio photographic memory, and a genuine passion for music.
Lee, who is blind and has autism, instantly impressed the AGT Judges with his ability to effortlessly recall any song he hears after just one listen. With each of Kodi Lee's AGT performances, he raised the bar, leading to his Season 14 win against fellow Golden Buzzer recipients, the Detroit Youth Choir.
Below, we recap Kodi Lee's AGT run, which was one for the books:
Kodi Lee's AGT audition
Lee's hauntingly hypnotic vocals during his AGT audition immediately made an impression on the Season 14 Judges and Host Terry Crews. He earned a highly-coveted Golden Buzzer, effectively kickstarting his AGT journey.
Kodi Lee's AGT Quarter-Final performance
Kodi Lee entered the Quarter-Finals with a beautiful rendition of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water." The performance was extra special because Paul Simon explicitly granted Lee clearance to perform the tune. Judge Simon Cowell explained to Lee and the audience, "I want to thank Paul Simon, who never really gives permission for anyone to sing this song because it's very precious to him, and he gave clearance within 30 minutes because he saw your audition."
Kodi Lee's AGT Semi-Finals performance
AGT always heats up during the Semi-Finals, and Kodi Lee brought everything he had to the AGT stage by singing "You Are the Reason" by Calum Scott. By the end, Lee (once again) had all four Judges on their feet.
Kodi Lee's AGT Finale performance
All eyes were on Kodi Lee as AGT concluded with an action-packed Finals round. Performing Freya Ridings' "Lost Without You," Kodi Lee enamored AGT fans with his flawless vocals and effortlessly stunning piano accompaniment. He won the competition, taking home the $1 million prize and securing a residency in the AGT Live Show in Las Vegas.
Season 17 of America's Got Talent premieres Tuesday, May 31 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
