Seth Meyers Tells Jimmy Fallon Why He Thinks His Wife Is Trying to Kill Him
The Late Night with Seth Meyers Host sat down with Jimmy Fallon for their first televised chat since the late night shows returned to NBC, and revealed that his wife's as funny as he is.
If The Yankees vs. The Mets is a subway series, and two Law & Order franchise casts merging is a "crossover event," what's it called when two NBC late night talk show Hosts sit down for one interview? We're not sure, but when Seth Meyers visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, October 11, the vibe was a warm-and-fuzzy good time.
Wednesday's interview was the first televised chat between the Late Night with Seth Meyers Host and Jimmy Fallon since the two late night shows returned to NBC after a five month absence. But the two kept in close touch in that time, cohosting the Strike Force Five podcast with fellow late night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and John Oliver.
The Hosts shared that they learned a lot about each other while making the pod—in part, through questions Fallon asked Seth Meyer's wife, his own, and the other three Host's.
Fallon shared that what they all learned from interviewing Meyers' wife, Alexi Ashe, "is that she's trying to kill you."
"Yeah," Meyers agreed. For example: When asked "what's the hardest you've laughed," Ashe's answer was, 'That time he fell out of a canoe.' They were all like—it was like evil had befallen me.'"
Another answer that, in Meyers' words, "proves my point that I'm about to be knocked off": When Fallon asked the Hosts' wives whether a spouse was "salty or sweet"—without specifying which spouse he was asking about, resulting in a confusing mix of answers—Ashe said "salty."
"I think she meant her?" Fallon said.
"I think she is a salty person," Meyers jokingly agreed. But the true Exhibit A, according to the Late Night Host? When asked whether she's big spoon or little spoon when cuddling, Ashe hilariously responded, "Knife."
"When I go missing, Jimmy, go to that," Meyers laughed. In real life, as he shared in an October 5 interview with actress Anne Hathaway, Meyers and Ashe recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
Meyers and Fallon got closer making Strike Force Five
As longtime Saturday Night Live fans know, Meyers and Fallon's history together began 20 years ago in 30 Rock's Studio 8H. Yet Meyers said they "weirdly" speak more now after the events of 2023.
"We overlapped for two years on SNL," Meyers said. "We weirdly spent more time collaborating on this podcast! It was the best."

"I had such a great time doing it," Fallon agreed. "I know you, and I'm friends with you, but I really got to know you. We spent like 15 hours together talking!"
"It was a very cool thing, and I felt very lucky to do it with you," Meyers said, before switching from sincerity to lightly teasing Fallon for his behind-the-scenes antics.
