Seth Meyers Says Putting This on His Pizza Makes Him Feel “a Little Bit Fancier”
The Late Night with Seth Meyers host makes a valid point.
Believe it or not, Seth Meyers was a pizza delivery guy long before he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2001 — and he loved it.
The Late Night with Seth Meyers host once revealed on X that he used to deliver pizzas for Pizza Bella in Bedford, New Hampshire. “Best job I ever had, until SNL,” Meyers told Variety in 2024 about his old gig as a teen. “But it is wildly divergent from any ideas pornography might have given you.”
Since then, Meyers has given pizza reviews on Late Night, and Martha Stewart even taught him how to make pizza from scratch, so he’s gained some experienced opinions over the years. For example, his go-to pizza topping when he wants to feel just a little more posh.
Seth Meyers feels “a little bit fancier” when he orders a specific pizza topping
From deep dish style to classic New York thin crust and even a simple frozen pie you picked up at the grocery store, pizza is one of the most versatile foods around. And if you want to feel a little fancy on pizza night, Meyers thinks one specific topping will do the trick.
Meyers told Variety that sausage with fennel seed on pizza “makes me feel a little bit fancier.” No word yet on if he indulges in those fancier slices with a pinky up, but it feels right.

SNL’s former head writer and Weekend Update host is also a big fan of those tiny pepperonis on a pizza. “I love a cup and crisp,” he told Variety, adding that he can’t resist dousing red chili flakes on top of a slice. “I like that it’s gratis. Like I’m pulling one over on the pizza place every time the chili flakes gets set down. You suckers have no idea.”
Seth Meyers would feast on pizza at 3 a.m. in the SNL writers' room
Just like you’d drink a Guinness on St. Patrick’s Day, eating pizza in NYC is a quintessential tradition. And it’s one the writers at SNL have upheld, especially when they’re starting to see double in the middle of the night.

In a 2012 interview with Bon Appétit, while Meyers was still a writer and cast member at SNL, he revealed that they were fueled by caffeine and carbs in the form of pizza.
“Tuesdays are our late, late writing nights. Around midnight, the interns start with Starbucks runs. When they go home, we transition to Red Bull. I’m strictly a sugar-free Red Bull guy. I’d rather enjoy my sugar intake elsewhere,” he told the magazine. “Around 3 a.m., someone really cool will magically show up at the table with pizza. At that point, you think it’s exactly what you need. An hour later, you realize it’s exactly what you didn't need, and you want to go to bed.”
