Parks and Rec's Leslie Knope and April Ludgate Reunited For Weekend Update on SNL
Did anyone have Aubrey Plaza/Amy Poehler Reunion on their 2023 bingo card?
Parks and Recreation fans are clamoring after the January 21, 2023 episode of Saturday Night Live, where Host Aubrey Plaza and Amy Poehler reunited at the "Weekend Update" desk. Ahhh!
The crowd went insane as soon as Colin Jost introduced "a longtime employee of the city of Pawnee, Indiana": Parks and Rec's April Ludgate (Plaza). April hit us with her iconic sarcasm and sass as soon as the crowd quieted down, and she was immediately annoyed by Jost's questions.
"OK, fine! So yeah, everybody should get involved where they live. If you're young, you should get a job as a garbageman or something," April shrugged.
But the fun didn't end there. April soon welcomed "her old boss" Leslie Knope (Poehler) to the segment. "Wow!" Leslie gushed. "Who knew there were cameras at SNL?"
Jost then attempted to speak with Leslie and April about local governments. "What does it take to run a federal agency?" he asked.
"Well, all you do is you show up every day, and you do the job," Leslie shrugged before pivoting to a hilarious joke poking fun at Poehler's run as a "Weekend Update" anchor alongside Seth Meyers. "But I wanna pick your brain about this job, about this show. Because I used to watch this when Seth Meyers did it by himself, with no one else. He made it look really easy."
A Parks and Rec and Saturday Night Live fusion doesn't happen every day, so when it happens, fans are eternally grateful. We sure did miss April and Leslie and loved the opportunity to see these cherished, iconic characters again.
