St. Denis Medical Cast Gives Back To Healthcare Workers
The St. Denis Medical cast gave back in a big way on Health Workforce Well-Being Day.
NBC’s newest comedy series St. Denis Medical has become an instant hit, not only for its talented cast and hilarious storylines, but for giving visibility to healthcare workers.
Set in a fictional Oregon hospital, the show paints a picture of what medical professionals deal with on a daily basis. From the accurate depiction of a hospital administrator with Joyce Henderson (Wendi McLendon-Covey) to properly capturing the highs and lows of the ER, the mockumentary strives to get every detail right.

And to accomplish this, the team relies on the help of actual medical technicians to assist them on set. Allison Tolman, who plays supervising nurse Alex, couldn’t speak highly enough about having them around.
“These two great med techs also write all of our medical jargon too," she told NBC Insider. "So, the script might just say, 'and then they...[medical].' Then Jamie and Rachel come in and are like, 'This is what they're doing. Here's what she says. Here's what he says.' We would be lost without them.”
NBC’s St Denis Medical Gives Back to Healthcare Workers
To show their immense appreciation of their on-set techs and medical workers in general, St. Denis Medical participated in Health Workforce Well-Being Day on March 18. In partnership with news station WBAL-TV 11, a total of 250 resources were delivered to the staff at Grace Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
From snacks to reusable water bottles, these items should make the medical staff’s days a little bit brighter.
Actor Mekki Leeper, who plays the ever-so clumsy nurse Matt, previously shared in an interview just how much more his appreciation for medical professionals has grown now that he’s playing one on TV.
“These people are so smart. They’re retaining so much information and they’re so poised,” he previously told Us Weekly. “Because even when it’s fake, I get scared when there’s a medical emergency [in a scene], I’m like, ‘This is really intense.’ So yeah I have a higher respect now for nurses and doctors. It’s just amazing what they do.”
Catch new episodes of St. Denis Medical when they premiere on Tuesdays on NBC at 8/7c. Episodes are available to stream on Peacock the next day.
