St. Denis Medical’s Recent Patient Slip-Up Leads to Potential New Romance
The relationship between Matt and Serena in St. Denis Medical just took two steps back. Will they be endgame?
One romance in St. Denis Medical that’s been brewing since its premiere is between nurses Matt (Mekki Leeper) and Serena (Kahyun Kim).
Matt has had a growing crush on her since day one, and they seemed to be making progress. However, a recent incident might have made their road to romance that much harder.
SPOILER ALERT: This article will discuss Season 1, Episode 15.
The situation started when the two were moving an unconscious patient. In an attempt to transfer him to a bed, they nearly dropped him on the floor but were able to recover the fall and successfully move him without any clear injuries.

Matt was convinced that during the slip-up the patient’s elbow hit the floor, but Serena doesn’t think anything happened. She also doesn’t want to tell the patient about the close call to avoid any legal or disciplinary action. However, Matt has a crisis of conscience and thinks the right thing to do is confess the potential mishap.
To make sure the incident stays quiet, Serena tricks Matt into telling her an embarrassing secret about himself, which she then uses as blackmail for his silence. And, luckily for her, he had a humiliating secret to tell.
“I have this recurring dream where I give birth to my mother and it feels very real,” he admitted.
Blackmail is not exactly the start to a good romance like Matt is hoping for, but things don't go completely downhill for him in this episode. Ultimately, after seeing Matt’s growing paranoia about the situation, Serena agrees to tell the patient the truth.
When they do, though, the patient only thanks Serena for being the honest one. In fact, he introduces himself to her as Will, and the two instantly appear to have a romantic connection, evident by Serena smiling from ear to ear.
“Yeah it feels good to tell the truth. The patient took it well. So well that he and Serena have been talking for 16 minutes now, which is very cool. He’s making her laugh and I told her I breastfeed my mom in my dreams,” a regretful Matt remarked.
Two steps forward and one step back for everyone's favorite bumbling nurse with a crush.
Are Will and Serena going to become an item? Only time will tell.
