In The Hunting Party, there are still plenty of questions surrounding the break out at the top-secret prison for serial killers, known as The Pit

Some suspicion this season has landed on Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler), one of the facility's former wardens and someone who knows The Pit inside and out. He is also one of the members of the titular team tasked with recapturing the escaped prisoners. On that team, he’s been reunited with his former FBI partner and romantic fling, Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (portrayed by Melissa Roxburgh).

After Odell killed a man to save a young girl named Samantha (who ended up becoming Bex’s adopted daughter), his complex past has made him a top suspect.

Wechsler recently explained in an interview that there are many layers to Odell, some of which reach further than the fiery incident that changed the course of his career.

“There’s a loneliness to being him. I don’t think that bad people are just bad because of recent events. I think it starts out in childhood,” Wechsler told Collider. “If he has rage issues, these things are with you your whole life, and they make you feel different and alone. He did a horrible thing that cost him his job. He lost social standing. He lost the girl that he probably would have had this beautiful romance with, if he hadn’t done it. He lost a whole life he could have had, and it was really isolating. It put him in a difficult situation."

Wechsler also reassured fans that while some mysteries will remain, by the end of the Season 1 finale, there will be answers about Odell’s true intentions.

“Yeah, you’ll have at least one big question at the end,” he continued. “We do get some clarity, but I don’t think it fully answers things. And then, a whole other can of worms is opened by the end of the season.”
