Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Reunited for an Emmys 2024 "Weekend Update"
The Restless Leg Tour comedy duo presented the Emmy for Live Variety Special SNL-style, making Elton John an EGOT.
At the 75th Emmy Awards, former Saturday Night Live stars Tina Fey and Amy Poehler channeled some serious nostalgia by presenting an award in the format of their beloved SNL segment, "Weekend Update."
The crowd went wild when Fey and Poehler entered the stage in front of a "Weekend Update"-style set. "We've reached the stage in life where we'll only present awards sitting down," Fey joked.
The Restless Leg Tour duo presented the nominees for Outstanding Live Variety Special as they would a set of SNL jokes.
Jimmy Kimmel hosting The Oscars: "The only show that's longer than when they aired Titanic with commercials on TBS," Poehler joked.
Chris Rock: Selective Outrage: "Chris could be here tonight—but if he wins, we'll accept on his behalf, because we miss getting Emmys," Fey quipped.
Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium: "Now, I can't speak for Elton, but EGOT to be excited about that," Poehler, making a pun out of the moment.
The Apple Music Super Bowl 57 Halftime Show Starring Rihanna: "The concert so good, it got us all pregnant," Fey said, referring to RiRi's big reveal during that broadcast.
The 75th Annual Tony Awards: "Celebrating the best in musicals that were based on movies that will probably be movies again," Poehler said. (Fey, who penned the 2024 Mean Girls movie adaptation of the Broadway musical based on the 2004 movie she also wrote, was quick to point out that there's nothing wrong with that).
And the Emmy goes to? Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium, making him an official EGOT winner!

"[John] wanted to send his love and thanks to the Television Academy for this incredible award," Winston started his speech.
Winston also thanked David Furnish, Elton John's partner, who "had the creative vision for this show." He also thanked the team at Rocket Entertainment, Disney Plus, the director Paul Dugdale, and the rest of the dedicated team.
"We knew this show would be historic because it was going to be Elton's last ever show in North America on tour. We knew it would be historic because it was Disney's first ever live global stream. We didn't know it was gonna historic because it was gonna win a man who has created a soundtrack to all of our lives, has done so much great so society, who is all of our heroes, we didn't know, that it was gonna win him an EGOT," he said.
