Why Jimmy Fallon Calls Tony Goldwyn's Wife Jane Musky a Hollywood "Legend"
The newly-minted Law & Order star says his spouse—who helped him land his role in Ghost—is a huge fan of Jimmy Fallon's wife, too.
Actor and director Tony Goldwyn has enjoyed a long and prolific career that dates back to the 1980s. In 2023 alone, Goldwyn appeared in Best Picture winner Oppenheimer, and directed his fifth feature film, Ezra. Most recently, the onetime Scandal star became Law & Order's new district attorney: His character, Nicholas Baxter, filled the vacancy left by longtime D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston), debuting during the March 14 episode.
But fans of the actor may recall his first memorable screen role as Carl Bruner in the 1990 film Ghost.
During Goldwyn's March 22 visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon shared a tidbit that only some Goldwyn fans might know.
"You credit your wife, Jane Musky, for helping you get the role in Ghost," Fallon said.
"I do, I do," Goldwyn confirmed.
"Your wife is a legend!" Fallon declared, referring to Jane Musky's career in movies. Like her husband Goldwyn, Musky has an exceptional resume.

Jimmy Fallon and his wife on working with Tony Goldwyn's wife Jane Musky: "She's the best of the best"
"She will be so happy to hear you say that," Goldwyn said in response to Fallon's compliment.
Musky has primarily worked as a production designer for film and television. The production designer is largely responsible for developing how a movie or T.V. show will look, leading an art department that works with the director and producers to execute that vision.
Like Goldwyn, Musky's career began in the 1980s, and the movies she's worked on are astounding: She was production designer for Joel and Ethan Coen's Blood Simple and Glengarry Glen Ross, When Harry Met Sally, Hitch, and Hustlers, just to name a few.
When it comes to production design, Musky is "the best of the best," Fallon said. "I got to work with her really quickly on Marry Me, and I couldn't believe it." (Fallon played himself for a cameo in the Jennifer Lopez-Owen Wilson romcom).

Fallon explained that his wife, Nancy Juvonen, also knows Musky through her work as a film producer.
"I know!" Goldwyn replied. "She says that Nancy is one of the best producers she has ever worked with."
"This is a love fest!" said a clearly proud Fallon, throwing up his hands.
How Jane Musky helped Goldwyn land his Ghost role
While Goldwyn has a Drew Barrymore-level connection to Old Hollywood — his grandfather was Hollywood pioneer Samuel Goldwyn of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (aka MGM Studios) fame — he told Fallon that his parents "wanted to make sure that we were not Hollywood brats, so they they kept us completely away from showbiz."
"I never knew a movie star growing up," Goldwyn added. "I never knew any actors." He was bitten by the acting bug regardless, and when he and Musky were a young couple, "Jane's career kind of took off well before mine did."

"Ghost was a big movie she was doing, and I was an unemployed actor having a tough time," Goldwyn explained. "And she would come home and say, 'you know, there's this role they haven't cast in this movie.' I was like, 'That's one of the lead roles! They're never gonna cast me in this part!'"
"I finally harassed my agent so much that the assistant in my agent's office said, 'I'm going to get you in on that.'" Goldwyn credits the agent's assistant as much as he does his wife for the career-sparking part.
"And you crushed it," said Fallon.
Watch Tony Goldwyn on Season 23 of Law & Order on Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
