Why Heidi Klum Says Sara James Is 'a Star in the Making' After Her All-Stars Audition
The teen sensation returned to the stage on AGT: All-Stars.
Season 17 finalist Sara James has officially returned to the America's Got Talent stage with a standout Audition during AGT: All-Stars. And thanks to a sneak peek of January 9's episode, we've got an early look at her performance.
We first met the 14-year-old Polish singing sensation last year when she earned Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer of the season with a stirring rendition of Billie Eilish's "Lovely." At the time, the Judge and executive producer said she had "a real star glow," and she continued to impress each round until she made it all the way to the Final's Top 10.
Since her elimination, James has had the chance to grow in her career and even release new music. Now, with AGT: All-Stars, she's taking another chance at pursuing her dreams.
"Even though I didn’t win, I came back to Poland and the press was waiting for me, shouting my name," she says in the sneak peek before singing Harry Styles' "As It Was." "Right now I’m performing in Poland and hopefully All-Stars is 'gonna give me the opportunity to travel all around the world. I want to be the first AGT person to win a Grammy."
Heidi Klum had high praise following James' Audition. “You are a star in the making, and I have so much respect for you for coming back," she said. "I love your style. My daughter—who just turned 13—is a huge fans of yours. I’m almost 50 and a huge fan of yours. I think you’re fantastic.”
Cowell also had encouraging words for his former Golden Buzzer recipient.
“The hard thing is as an Artist today, you’ve got to be able to tell your fans, the labels, and particularly the writers, this is who I am," he said. "And the truth is that’s what you just did with that record, genuinely. I do believe that with that performance you’ve really given yourself that break, Sara. I really do.”
Later on, Cowell spilled to his fellow Judges that James made him think of a certain Voice Season 22 Coach.
"She reminds me of Camila Cabello, when I first auditioned her," he said, referencing how Cabello got her start on his show, The X Factor, when she competed in the girl band Fifth Harmony. "Whatever she had, she just had something special."
We'll just have to wait for AGT: All-Stars' second round of Auditions to air to see if James' "something special" will carry her through to the Final.
Watch AGT: All-Stars Mondays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.
