Wendy Moten Did a Surprise Performance of an Aretha Classic at a Voice Watch Party
An emotional rendition of an emotional song.
Wendy Moten just stole the show at a watch party for The Voice.
On November 28 at Nashville's Ole Red venue, Moten performed a chilling and powerful rendition of "Ain't No Way" by Aretha Franklin during a Voice watch party. For the performance, she wore a glittery cowgirl outfit with fringe and, as always, beautifully sang her heart out to the track's moving lyrics.
“Stop tryin' to be someone you're not, hard cold and cruel is a man who paid too much for what he's got,” she crooned with passion while her backup singers harmonized perfectly with her notes.
“And if you need me to love you, say, say yeah you do, oh then please, please, please, don't you know that I need you,” she continued, masterfully belting at the top of her lungs.
Moten appeared on The Voice in Season 21 and ended up finishing as runner-up. During her Blind Audition, she blew the Coaches away so much that Blake Shelton even referred to Moten as one of his favorite The Voice performers ever. "When I think of one Blind Audition that I was just shocked and amazed [by], and I still can’t, haven’t gotten over it, it would have to be Wendy Moten," Shelton told NBC Insider. “She's still one of the best singers—maybe the best singer that I’ve ever just sat and listened to in a room. It’s just unbelievable."
Watch The Voice on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock.
