Meet Gwen Stefani’s 3 Children: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo

Plus, see what Blake Shelton has to say about being a stepfather.

By Caitlin Schunn

The Voice Coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani don’t only have the love and support of each other, but also of Stefani’s three children.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

“I have a blast with it — I’m not gonna lie,” Shelton told People about being a stepfather in June 2023. “I don’t take it so serious that I’m not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we’re five years into this thing. I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.”

Here's what to know about their sweet family of five.

Who are Gwen Stefani's kids?

Stefani has three sons with now-ex Gavin Rossdale: Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, 17; Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, 15; and Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, 9.

Stefani, who got divorced in 2016, married Shelton (whom she met while working on The Voice) in 2021. He made sure to involve Stefani’s children in his marriage proposal, even asking the boys for permission to marry their mother first.

“Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission,” according to Wide Open Country. “Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys.”

Besides a love of music, Gwen Stefani's sons share something else with her: dyslexia. The singer revealed she discovered she also has the condition when all three of her children started having trouble reading.

“Everyone has things that happen, and mine was that,” Stefani told People. “I feel like a lot of the problems that I have had or decisions that I’ve made for myself stem from that, because now the children — obviously, it’s all genetic — they have some of those issues.”

Kingston Rossdale was born on May 26, 2006. He shares his mom's musical talent: He plays guitar in a band, and sings and writes his own music, according to Wide Open Country.

Stefani recently posted a birthday tribute on Instagram to Kingston, with tons of photos of him as a little kid, writing she “couldn’t be more proud of you!! No matter how old you are, you’ll still be my baby boy.”

Kingston takes after his mom in another aspect: style.

“Kingston has always been the most stylish,” Stefani told People. “He always knew exactly what he wanted to wear. Luckily, he always picked really kind of cool, outrageous stuff. He’s really into brands and has a real strong personality and opinion.”

Kingston revealed on his Instagram he’s been in a relationship with his girlfriend since he was 11. He recently posted a picture on Aug. 1 on his Instagram of the two of them celebrating their sixth anniversary, writing, “What a year. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted and more.”

Gwen Stefani's Middle Son, Zuma Rossdale

Gwen Stefani posts an Instagram story celebrating her son Zuma for his birthday.

Stefani’s middle child, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, was born on August 21, 2008 and is now 15. Stefani has described Zuma as her twin, and said he has a great sense of humor.

“He wants everyone to watch him, and he’s a goofball, and he’s really silly,” she told People. “He’s a funny guy.”

In 2023, she posted a birthday tribute to Zuma on her Instagram stories after the two went to a Zach Bryan concert.

"Happy 15th birthday Zuma!!!" she wrote. "We love you more than anything."

Stefani previously posted a birthday tribute to her middle child on Instagram in 2022, including pics of her with baby Zuma.

Mother and son also collaborated on an eyewear collection for teens in 2019.

“If you go out and buy boy glasses, they’re all the same,” Stefani told People “Zuma is a little more boyish and doesn’t care as much [about style]. But with the glasses, he does, because it’s something he identifies with.”

Gwen Stefani's Youngest Son, Apollo Rossdale

Her youngest son, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, is now 9, and was born on Feb. 28, 2014.

In an Instagram birthday tribute in 2023, she wrote, "My world is so much bigger with you in it, happy birthday, Apollo."

Stefani described the difficulty of sending her baby off to kindergarten in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2019.

“I got a baby in kindergarten now, and that was devastating,” she told the outlet. “But he’s so excited, and he’s doing so well. I got junior high…God gave me all three boys. I’ve always been surrounded by boys.”

Gwen Stefani's Parenting Style

As far as her approach to parenting, Stefani said it’s very different than what she imagined she’d be like as a mother when she was younger.

“I was in a band and free my whole life, so I always thought I would be really free with [my kids] and do whatever I wanted, like, ‘Oh, I’ll take them out of school,” she told People. “But you learn that when they have boundaries is when they feel the safest.”

In reality, Stefani said one of the hardest things to do as a parent is have a “discipline chart and follow up on all those things.”

Who is Gwen Stefani married to?

Gwen Stefani's husband is Blake Shelton. They've been married since 2021.

Blake Shelton has told People being a stepfather to Gwen Stefani's kids was a role he embraced.

“I have a stepfather in my life who’s one of my heroes,” he said. “I love my stepfather, and I look up to him, and he’s like a father to me, so I have a good inspiration in my life for how to do this, and the kind of stepdad I want to be. And I take it very serious.”

Shelton told People that, like any other parent, there’s good days and bad days, but he’s enjoying his role as stepfather.

“There’s days where you go, ‘Oh my god, when does school start?'” he said. “An hour later you’re going, ‘God, I can’t wait ‘til they get home.'"

"They’re so damn funny. It’s just my first time being around it, and it’s easy to fall in love with those kids," he added. "They’re pretty special.”
