Jessy Schram Reveals She "Learned So Much" From Andre Braugher in Wake of His Death
The two actors starred alongside each other in 2012 drama Last Resort.
Actor Andre Braugher died at the age of 61 on December 11, 2023, as confirmed by NBC News. The actor's reps confirmed on December 14 that the actor passed from lung cancer just a few months after being diagnosed.
Braugher was known for his role as the deadpan detective Raymond Holt in NBC's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which ran on NBC from 2013-2021.
A day after his passing, NBC released a statement honoring Braugher. "Andre Braugher was the actor that others in the profession would always aspire to be. He infused Det. Frank Pembleton on Homicide: Life on the Street with both righteous ferocity and quiet dignity. In addition to his prowess as a dramatic actor, his comedy chops were also on full display as the determined and passionate Capt. Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. His performances will continue to inspire future generations and we will miss him tremendously."

Jessy Schram's tribute to Andre Braugher
In Schram's heartfelt tribute, she posted pictures of Braugher in character on the set of Last Resort, along with a picture of him smiling at a red carpet event.
"I had the honor of working with Andre Braugher on “Last Resort” back in 2012. Andre Braugher had an effect on everyone around him. He was a grounded, strong, warm, thoughtful and commanding presence with a booming, vibrant voice and deep layered talent with heart. I only got to work with him briefly, but 11 years later, I still reference our conversations, his approach to the art of acting, his curiosity in others’ approaches and the deep love he expressed and held for his family."
She continued, "I learned so much from getting to observe his work and work ethic. He chose creativity, human-ness and respect. Though they were small interactions, so many years ago, he had a massive impact on me and I always hoped I’d have the opportunity to work with or see him again and share the effect he’s had. So, thank you Mr. Braugher for your presence. And the gifts you’ve shared.
My heart goes out to his beautiful family, whom he could never be more proud of, his loved ones and those he touched on stage/screen and off."
