Blake Shelton's Cheese Dip Recipe Is Almost Too Easy
The former Voice coach cracks the code on spicy cheese dip.

We won’t argue with Blake Shelton: cheese dip is pretty much a perfect food. Whether dipping chips, dunking vegetables, or topping tater tots as he does at his Ole Red restaurants, it’s bound to be delicious. Any occasion is the right time for cheesy goodness, so it’s no surprise that queso was a hot topic of conversation for Shelton during an interview with “Country Living” magazine.
When asked about his favorite meals and food “trade secrets,” the former Voice Coach revealed some genius intel about leveling up his favorite snacks and drinks. For instance, he planned to transform his go-to cocktail — Smithworks Vodka, Sprite Zero, and ice — into a slushie using a margarita machine! But there’s one thing he craves the most after being on the road, and that’s homemade queso.
How does Blake Shelton's make his cheese dip?
It's the first thing Shelton makes when he comes home after a long tour, and he revealed the super simple recipe: "Homemade cheese dip. I use some Velveeta, chopped up jalapeños, some sautéed onions, mix it up, and start dipping!"
It's no surprise the 48-year-old has some quick and clever recipes up his sleeve. With six Ole Red restaurants to run, a new single called “Texas” released last Fall, and a cross-country 2025 tour underway, Shelton is busy. The country crooner has been all over our TVs for more than a decade as a Coach on The Voice for 23 seasons and host of USA Network’s popular game show Barmageddon, which is filmed at the Nashville location of his Ole Red restaurant chain.
But somehow, the Oklahoma native always makes time for food. In fact, many of Ole Red’s comfort food dishes are inspired by him, including the famous beer-marinated “Champagne of Fried Chicken.” In this case, the champagne is actually Miller High Life (the “champagne of beers”), and the dredge gets a kick from Blake’s signature “aw Sh*t” spice blend. His loaded “Redneck Nachos” is one of his restaurant’s most popular starters and features gooey queso – proof that his cheese dip is a crowd pleaser.
After all, he shares a sprawling ranch with his wife, Gwen Stefani, and her three children, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. He told the outlet in 2019, "When I’m not on tour or in Los Angeles working on The Voice, you can find me at home on my farm in Oklahoma. I was born there and I’ll die there. I like the wide open country life." Amid the tractors and farm equipment, the herds of cattle, and the rows of vegetables, we can just imagine Shelton and his crew taking a break with homemade queso, dipping their hearts away.
And speaking of treats that feel like a warm hug, be sure to check out Shelton hosting Opry 100: A Live Celebration, where he was joined by country music's biggest stars to pay tribute to Nashville's Grand Ole Opry iconic history. The special can be streamed now on Peacock.
