The physicians on Chicago Med are constantly facing distressing decisions and having to figure out the right course of action, but that doesn't mean there's no room for fun storylines like risqué photos and awkward dating.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Med Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock

The most recent installment of the NBC drama series, Season 9, Episode 7, showcased some of the power struggles at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

Impulsive, confident third-year resident Dr. Zola Ahmad (Sophia Ali) broke an unspoken rule and undermined Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) after empathizing with a patient’s fear of surgery, prompting Marcel to call her out.

Meanwhile, the no-nonsense Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) butted heads with Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) over the safest way to treat someone in an unusual scenario — a birth control implant lodged in a patient’s heart — highlighting the reality that sometimes there's no clear playbook for treatment, even for seasoned vets of the emergency department.

Chicago Med 901 Daniel Charles Mitch Ripley

In another storyline from Episode 7, Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) and Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) put aside their complicated history to creatively convince a patient with obsessive-compulsive disorder to accept life-saving treatment. We couldn’t help but cheer, seeing the two working as a team, and hope that their relationship will continue to evolve in Season 9, Episode 8. But will it air this week?
