Kelly Clarkson's Duet With Carol Burnett For Her 90th Birthday Might Bring You to Tears
Burnett stopped by Clarkson's talk show to celebrate her upcoming NBC special, Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Love and Laughter.
Kelly Clarkson brought on a very special guest to her talk show on April 26: The one and only Carol Burnett!
Burnett, who's known for her extremely popular variety show, The Carol Burnett Show, joined forces with Clarkson to sing a heartwarming, nostalgic duet of the iconic series' farewell song, "So Long".
"I'm so glad we've had this time together," Clarkson started out the performance. "Just to have a laugh or sing a song," Burnett jumped in, and they sang in unison.
"Seems we just got started, and before you know it, comes the time we have to say so long," they crooned the song's signature lyrics.
"There's a time you put aside for dreamin', and a time for things you have to do, but the time I love the best, is any evening I can spend a moment here with you," they both continued, their voices blending together perfectly.
Better yet, the performance happened on Burnett's 90th birthday! During the lovely conversation, Burnett talked about her early days in Texas (Clarkson is from Fort Worth) and other things the two entertainers have in common, such as similar birthdays and having their own shows.
Meanwhile, a special highlighting Burnett's prolific career is airing on Wednesday, April 26 at 8/7c on NBC and will stream the next day on Peacock. Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Love and Laughter takes a look back on the impeccable strides she has made as an actress and comedian, and will include a roster of celebrity guests.
“This special is going to be the best party ever," executive producer Mark Bracco said. "It will be an evening of music, comedy, and dozens of big stars paying tribute to the one, the only, Carol Burnett. We cannot wait for everyone at home to celebrate right along with us."
What does Burnett herself have to say about the extravaganza? "It was fantastic," she told NBC's Mark Barger. "As I have said before, I didn't want a birthday party with a cake and balloons and confetti. And I didn't want it to be a roast. I wanted it to be kind of an old time variety show with live entertainment. We had a 90-piece orchestra. We had funny clips and wonderful guests who came on and were funny."
