Kelly Clarkson Did a Seriously Sultry Cover of Adele's 'Rumour Has It'
One vocal powerhouse covering another!
Kelly Clarkson proved to us (yet again) that she never disappoints with her Kellyokes. On November 16's Kelly Clarkson Show, she performed a cover of Adele’s 2011 hit “Rumour Has It," a song perfect for her soulful voice.
The performance started with drums pounding a sultry beat while the backup singers crooned “ooos” repeatedly on tempo, while blue flashing lights swirled around Clarkson. “She, she ain't real, she ain't gon' be able to love you like I will,” she vocalized with intense passion.
"She is a stranger, you and I have history, or don't you remember? Sure, she's got it all, but, baby, is that really what you want?" she continued while looking straight into the camera.
After a brief pause, the pre-chorus hit. “Bless your soul, you got your head in the clouds, she made a fool out of you, and, boy, she's bringing you down,” Clarkson sang with grit.
“She made your heart melt, but you're cold to the core, now rumor has it she ain't got your love anymore,” she sang as the camera panned out to the full band.
The bridge came in with some dramatic piano chords. “All of these words whispered in my ear tell a story that I cannot bear to hear; just 'cause I said it, it don't mean that I meant it,” Clarkson and riffed.
“But rumor has it he's the one I'm leaving you for,” she then sang with sass, winking at the camera.
