Kelly Clarkson Revealed She's Writing a Mysterious New Project for Broadway
The Voice Coach and talk show host spilled the details during a recent interview.
Kelly Clarkson has a grand new endeavor under her belt!
On May 25, the "Behind These Hazel Eyes" singer alluded to an exciting new project.
"I'm in love with theatre and Broadway and all of that, and I never thought I'd get a chance to do anything like that, so eventually I would love to do something," Clarkson said while being interviewed by Nancy O'Dell on the show talkshoplive.
Then, Clarkson revealed some exciting information to fans. "I'm in the works of, like, writing something right now..." she said before clarifying that what she is writing is meant for Broadway specifically.
Fans will have to wait and see what the mysterious show entails and how Clarkson's massive talent will be involved. Fittingly, Clarkson is a self proclaimed "Broadway nerd," and gave fans a glimpse of her musical theater singing chops when she covered a tune from Funny Girl at Radio City Music Hall in 2012. The song she chose was "My Man", made famous by the legendary Barbra Streisand. Read about the performance here.
Clarkson's upcoming Broadway project is quite fitting for a recent turn in events in her life, as Season 5 of The Kelly Clarkson Show will be shot and filmed in New York City. Better yet, it will be filmed at NBC's iconic 30 Rock location where The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is filmed. The premiere of Season 4 also happened to take place in The Big Apple for a mega fun episode, and NBC Insider was also lucky enough to attend one of the tapings.
"There's nothing like witnessing the American Idol winner's powerful vocals in person," NBC Insider reported, referencing one of Clarkson's show-stopping Kellyoke covers that she performs every episode. "As she hit those seemingly impossible high notes that filled the room, I actually heard audience members gasp all around me. It was like we were at our very own private Kelly Clarkson concert."
"As filming wrapped and the lights went down and it was time to head back into the drizzly NYC streets, I found myself consumed with a couple thoughts, but mainly this: I better be pinching the hell out of myself because I'd just had a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
As for what Clarkson chooses to bring to a Broadway in the theater, only time will tell as fans eagerly wait.
