Mariska Hargitay Jokes Drew Barrymore's "A Little Creepy" After Doing This In Her Home
The talk show host has the best story about visiting the SVU actress' home.
Mariska Hargitay said what?
The longtime Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star said the funniest thing to Drew Barrymore during a January 2022 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show. And don't worry, there was no malice behind her comment — let us explain.
Hargitay was referring to a funny story that occurred a few years ago involving the two women. After Hargitay left a screening of the 2021 film Black Widow (also attended by Barrymore) to prep her own house for the official after-party, she slipped and fell outside her home and had to be taken away in an ambulance!
Not wanting the party to be ruined, Hargitay advised the 50 First Dates star to tell people she was "running errands," and the party went off without a hitch.
"No, it really wasn't [ruined]," Barrymore said. "In fact, I went through your whole house, not in a creepy way–"
"A little creepy, but go ahead!" Hargitay joked.

"A little creepy, but I'm such a homemaker, and I have to say, your home is probably one of my favorite homes I've ever been in in my whole life," Barrymore sweetly confessed.
Hargitay, unsurprisingly, loved to hear it!
"It is the most magical, charming, nooks, vibes, areas, decor, cozy — I've also seen things in your house I've never seen anywhere else," Barrymore continued.

Talk about high praise. Hargitay was beaming as Barrymore couldn't help but gush over the star's gorgeous home.
So sure, technically, Barrymore was a "little creepy" when she gave herself a tour of Hargitay's home while the SVU icon was in the hospital, but the super-sweet compliments that came later balanced everything out!
Mariska Hargitay talks about the importance of being "present" when filming
When you've been playing a character as long as Hargitay has, you learn a lot about yourself as an actor! In a 2024 interview with Backstage, Hargitay revealed her thought process when on the SVU set — and spoke about how vital it is for her to trust not only herself, but her iconic co-stars like Ice T and Peter Scanavino, too.
"I think the most important thing that I've learned is to trust in stillness," she said. "It's really hard for actors to trust that they're enough or that they're doing enough."
Hargitay never lets herself off the hook when filming a scene and is known for going back and taking stock of her performance.
"Was I present? Was I focused? Was I thinking the right thoughts? Was I in my truth? That is the difference between honing and knowing your own instrument," she explained."
After over 25 years of being part of SVU, she gives all the credit to the people around her who make her job so much easier!
"It's very beautiful to be part of an acting team, because you think it's a solo thing, but it's not," Hargitay said. "It's a complete melding of the actors."
