Even after we are gone, our art remains. Two years after her death, AGT Golden Buzzer Jane Kristen Marczewski — who used the stage name Nightbirde — is still moving fans with her beautiful voice. In a just-released recording, you can hear her sweetness, her soul, and her hope.

How to Watch

To benefit the Nightbirde Foundation, Marczewski's family made her recording of The New Radicals' "You Get What You Give" available for purchase, and shared a clip of Nightbirde singing the song on Instagram, writing, "The New Radicals song 'you get what you give' was an anthem for Jane. This song was one of two she carried into the audition room for @agt. It was a song, if you didn’t know it, you would think Jane wrote it herself. On the two year anniversary of Jane’s passing this year, 2/19/24, we felt it was only right to give you all this song in a way only Nightbirde could’ve pulled off. A song that held a very special place in Jane’s heart."

The song is also a favorite of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and the band reunited to perform it at the Biden/Harris Inauguration. In his autobiography, President Biden wrote that the song resonated with his son Beau, who also died from cancer.

"During breakfast, Beau would often make me listen to what I thought was his theme song, 'You Get What You Give'," Biden revealed, per Entertainment Weekly. "Even though Beau never stopped fighting and his will to live was stronger than most — I think he knew that [his early death] might come. The words to the song are: 'This whole damn world can fall apart. You'll be OK, follow your heart.'"

Clearly, this song is a comfort to those dealing with the unimaginable.

Marczewski auditioned for America's Got Talent in 2021 and was immediately passed to the Live shows, stunning the judges with her original song "It's OK" and her inspirational story. At the time, her cancer had already spread throughout her body, though she refused to have a negative outlook on life. Unfortunately, as her health worsened, she was unable to continue in the competition, and passed away on February 19, 2022.
