“One in a Million” Bryson Battle’s Knockout Had John Legend Say “You Can Win”
Bryson Battle sounded amazing during his Knockout.
Bryson Battle blew the Coaches away with his performance during the Season 27 Knockouts on The Voice, positioning himself as a frontrunner. The young singer chose Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way," a song he admitted is "one of the hardest songs to sing," explaining that the challenge made him "really wanna sing it." That risk definitely paid off.
Bryon Battle was "one in a million" during The Voice Knockouts
He hit the runs, the belts, the falsetto and everything in between. His Coach, John Legend, was so moved that he stood up to listen. Battle loves singing, acting and musical theater, and he brought all of his dramatic talents to the performance, showing off every aspect of his voice and personality.

After he finished, Coach Adam Levine compared him to a former Team Adam Artist, Jordan Smith, who ended up winning the competition. Like Smith, said Levine, "[Battle] can do anything there is to do when it comes to singing."
"Your voice feels like it's one of the greats," added Coach Kelsea Ballerini, praising his ability to sound contemporary even as he channels old school vocalists. "You're one in a million," she said.
Legend agreed, calling Battle, "one of the best singers I've ever seen in any context" and even predicting, "You have so much room to grow." Unsurprisingly, Battle won his Knockout. "He just has range, he has soul," Legend explained before turning to Battle to tell him, "You can win this show." And with that, it's off to the Playoffs!
Legend and Battle have been locked in since day one
In his Blind Audition, Battle earned the coveted 4-Chair Turn and major praise from all the Coaches. But Legend wanted him, bad. "Everybody’s trying to get between us. Everything felt like it was just breathing for you...I was the first one to turn around, in fact...You made [the song] feel fresh and new and exciting...We’re truly blessed to have you on the show. This is why The Voice exists," he told the young singer, recruiting him to his team.

Then at the Battles, Bryson blew Legend away again. "Everybody’s jaw is on the floor seeing what you can do with your voice" the "All Of Me" singer said, calling Battle "truly one of the best vocalists we have in the competition this season."
