Crystal Lake: Peacock & A24's Friday the 13th Prequel Lands Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees
The Mad Men star plays the devoted mother of machete-wielding slasher icon Jason Voorhees.
Peacock's Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, just took a major step forward with the official casting of Linda Cardellini (Mad Men, Dead to Me) as Pamela Voorhees, devoted mother of eventual machete-wielding slasher icon Jason Voorhees.
Little is known about the show's plot, though it's possible it'll take place before the events of the 1980 film that kicked off the horror franchise and ended with Pamela's (Betsy Palmer) decapitation at the hands of final girl Alice (Adrienne King). The title, of course, refers to the summer camp where Pamela — and later her hockey mask-wearing baby boy — slash through teenage counselors in a number of creative ways.

Who will star in Peacock's Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake?
So far, only Linda Cardellini has joined the Crystal Lake cast as Jason's mom, Pamela Voorhees. We expect plenty more updates in the coming months!
Cardellini has enjoyed a prolific career across film and television since the late '90s, with roles in everything from the cult favorite Freaks and Geeks to the live-action Scooby-Doo! movies.
Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice) is serving as showrunner, creator, writer, and executive producer on Crystal Lake, which hails from acclaimed production banner, A24. Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Rob Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil are also executive producers.
“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask,” Kane said in a statement last summer (via Deadline). “Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than Friday The 13th. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24.”
Who is Pamela Voorhees in Crystal Lake?
As fans of the Friday the 13th franchise know, Pam Voorhees is mother of the slasher icon Jason Voorhees and plays a pivotal role in the first film in the series.
This will technically be the franchise's second foray into television after Friday the 13th: The Series, which ran for three seasons. On the cinematic side of things, Jason's bloody rampages span a total of 12 feature-length entries released between 1980 and 2009.
