On August 27, the America's Got Talent Season 18 finalist showed off her impeccable range with a rendition of Whitney Houston's version of "I Will Always Love You." Even though the tune is notoriously difficult to sing, Ariani unsurprisingly managed to pull it off.

During her performance, she riffed gently with perfect control. When the chorus hit, she gently played the piano, crooning in a hushed tone as the crowd joined her.

What to know about "I Will Always Love You"

Originally written by Dolly Parton in 1973 for her album Jolene, the song was famously covered by Whitney Houston for the film The Bodyguard. Houston's version reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1992, and won Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Record of the Year two years later.

Parton was more than honored by Houston's rendition. When the country icon was on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, she described what happened when she heard Houston's take on her emotional song for the first time. "I heard it on the radio. And so when it went into And I, I just freaked out. I had to pull over to the side because, honestly, I thought I was 'gonna wreck. It was the most overwhelming feeling. And you know how great that was,” she said.
