Randy Travis' Golden Life Philosophy After 2013 Stroke: "Don't Stay So..."
Country legend Randy Travis knows that life can move fast, so you need to take the time to enjoy it.
Randy Travis made an emotional appearance on NBC's March special Opry 100: A Live Celebration, which you can stream on Peacock now. The country icon has kept a relatively low profile after suffering a severe stroke in 2013, but he was beaming in the audience at Opry 100 and rightfully earned a standing ovation after Carrie Underwood's tribute to him.
Travis' positivity clearly radiates from the inside out, and in December 2024, he shared a touching throwback video on social media from his younger years where he shared his motto about gratitude. But him re-posting this only last year confirms he still believes these wise words to be true. In fact, it's a life philosophy we should all try to get behind.
"Remember this: Don't stay so busy that you never take that time to enjoy those people you love, to enjoy doing the things you love," Travis said. "Never forget this is a God-given gift and that you owe it all to the Lord. Keep that in mind always."
In the montage that accompanied these words on social media, Travis can be spotted riding horseback and doing a red carpet with his family. His message continued, "Do the best you can, and it says in the Bible — everything that you find to do, do it with your hands as if unto the Lord, so keep that in mind. Enjoy your life, enjoy the people you love, and be happy."

Where is Randy Travis now?
Despite his ongoing health struggles, Travis continues to showcase his love for country music. In 2024, he returned to the studio to release the first new music since his 2013 stroke with "Where That Came From," a single aided by AI technology that scanned Travis' previous work to replicate his vocals for the track. He has since followed up that release with "Horses in Heaven," another must-hear Travis track.
New music isn't the only exciting career update for Travis. While attending the Opry: 100 celebrations in March, Travis was keen to announce that an upcoming biopic about him, titled Forever and Ever, Amen!, is in development. Travis and his wife will executive produce the film inspired by his incredible life story.
The good things don't stop there, either — Travis is on tour. The "Three Wooden Crosses" singer embarked on his nationwide More Life Tour in April 2025. The tour, which has been extended to fall due to popular demand, features his original touring band and special guest vocalist, James Dupré. Together, they perform Travis' chart-topping hits, offering audiences an unforgettable experience.
Travis said in a statement, "The More Life Tour celebrates something so much more than a musical moment in time — it's a gift to me to spend time with my fans, and my band, as James Dupré perfectly presents the songs that best define my career."
