Trump, Musk and Rubio Meeting Cold Open

February 16's SNL: The Anniversary Special brought classic Saturday Night Live characters — and so, so many celebrities — to Studio 8H. Including Kristen Wiig's Doonese, the zany, tiny-handed member of the Maharelle Sisters from SNL's "Lawrence Welk." And she was joined by Scarlett Johansson, SNL alum Ana Gasteyer, and Kim Kardashian — who had a zesty moment with Doonese.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

"Joining the sisters tonight is a special guest: He's the handsome, young, dark-haired alcoholic everyone's been talking about. It's Robert Goulet," Fred Armisen's Lawrence Welk said, introducing Will Ferrell as Robert Goulet in his first impersonation of the singer since 2005.

Kristen Wiig's Doonese played a drum solo on Kim Kardashian in SNL50's "Lawrence Welk"

"Zip, zap, zoo, zoo, dabba dooba dippa doo," Ferrell's Goulet sang, rolling in on a moped. "Oh, my God, did they put LSD in my Caesar salad? Or do I see three beautiful ladies hitchhiking my way?"

"Hi, traveler, we wanna ride / We'd love to sit right by your side / And then we hope you will decide /Which one of us will be your bride," Johansson, Gasteyer, and Kardashian sang back (with Gasteyer, who played Elphaba in Broadway's and Chicago's Wicked, holding a sweet note).

The sisters introduced themselves as Janice (Johansson), Holly (Kardashian), and Margaret (Gasteyer). "And I'm Dooneeeeese," Wiig sang, blowing a kiss with her miniature hand and honking Goulet's scooter horn.

"Forehead! Sorry, sorry. I meant to say forehead," Ferrell's Goulet stammered after meeting the distinctive Doonese.

"Men get lonely on a long, cold night," Goulet serenaded the sisters.

"You can count on us to hold you tight," they sang back, with each offering to be his mate. But Doonese had another idea.

"I'll be this like this," she sang, before whipping Kardashian's Holly around to play a jazzy drum solo on her backside (with Wiig hilariously wiping her giant brow in a show of exertion).

With her unique charm and the appearance of a mysterious third hand, Goulet was suddenly charmed by Doonese. "I think I love you," he admitted, though after she launched into one of Doonese's classically odd rambles, he added, "to think I almost picked Kim Kardashian."

"Isn't love wonderful? And by wonderful, I mean visually upsetting," Fred Armisen's Welk declared. Watch "Lawrence Welk" from SNL50: The Anniversary Special above.

SNL50 saw the return of "Close Encounters," "Bronx Beat" & more

In addition to musical performances by Miley Cyrus with Brittany Howard, Lil Wayne and The Roots, Paul McCartney and more, the three-hour anniversary show included a fresh Debbie Downer sketch, a "Black Jeopardy" installment in which Eddie Murphy unveiled his Tracy Morgan impression, and a new "Close Encounters."

Meryl Streep made her first Saturday Night Live appearance ever (!) during the special in a surprise cameo as the mother of Kate McKinnon's Ms. Rafferty. Watch that here, and stream SNL50: The Anniversary Special on Peacock now.
