Susan Boyle's Cover of ''What a Wonderful World'' Is a Complete Tour de Force
The cover was the perfect opening track for the Britain's Got Talent alum's 2016 album.
Britain's Got Talent Season 3 runner-up Susan Boyle did one of the jazz greats justice when she covered ''What a Wonderful World'' by Louis Armstrong as the starting track for her 2016 album, fittingly titled A Wonderful World.
Boyle's version is made complete with airy vocals before some gentle piano notes and strings accompanied her. She then told the story with her voice in a dreamy tone before hitting a gorgeous crescendo.

In a 2019 interview with People, Boyle opened up about what she loves so much about performing. “I’m in my own little bubble on the stage, conveying a story and it really is my happy place,” she told the outlet. “I get great enjoyment making the audience happy. My career has never been about earning money or really even chart positions, I just love to be on stage and singing."

Now one of Armstrong's most well-known songs, ''What a Wonderful World'' did not originally chart in the U.S. upon its 1967 release due to little promotion. However, it rose in popularity when it was featured in the 1988 film Good Morning Vietnam. In 2015, it was honored with the Songwriter Hall of Fame’s Towering Song Award.
''What a Wonderful World,” like so many songs that resonate in perpetuity with the masses, expresses simple ideas in a simply constructed piece,'' American Songwriter wrote of the tune in 2020.
