Hear Stee's “Drop the Mic” Moment That Made Gwen “Fall in Love” With (and Steal) Him

The Voice's Knockouts are here, and that means the Steal button is getting even more use.

By Matthew Jackson

Three-Way Knockouts on The Voice are always exciting, particularly when you get some of the heaviest hitters of the competition so far together on one stage. Monday night, that happened for Team Legend, and it ended up working in Team Gwen's favor.

How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

For the Team Legend Knockout round Monday night, Legend set a three-way faceoff between Lila Forde, Deejay Young, and Stee, all of whom were coming off dazzling victories in the Battles. Almost immediately, it was clear that Forde, with her cover of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain," was the runaway favorite of the group, and ended up winning the Knockout and advancing to the Playoffs for Team Legend. But that didn't mean everyone else was out in the cold.

For his Knockout song, Stee chose the R&B hit "Pretty Wings" by Maxwell, and used the number to showcase the full breadth of his vocal range. By the time it was over, even as the Coaches leaned toward Forde as the winner, they had nothing but love for Stee's work.

"Now I completely get Stee," Niall Horan said. "You looked the most comfortable, the most confident. The emotion you put into it, it felt like it was your record. I love Stee!"

"We've seen you in various expressions, this finally felt like it all came together in a way that felt authentic," Legend said, before making his choice.

But of all the Coaches, it was Gwen Stefani who seemed most blown away by the work Stee put in.

"Wow Stee, all you have to do is come up and smile onstage and we fall in love with you," Stefani said.

She continued, "You all are so incredible, but when Stee finished and kinda did that whiparound, like...OK, kinda like a 'Drop the mic' moment."

And it wasn't just talk. After Young thanked Legend for his mentorship and left the stage, Stee stepped up to say his thank you and was met with a Steal from Stefani, who told the cameras that she'd had her eye on the performer ever since the beginning.

"Stee is just a flawless singer," she said. "I've wanted him since the Blinds. He just exudes this amazing positivity and joy."

So, Forde moves forward as a clear Coach favorite this week, but Stee's got a new Coach and a new chance at making it all the way.

How far will Stee go? Find out on The Voice, airing Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC, and streaming next day on Peacock.
