Where to Watch the Original Ted Movie After Binging Seth MacFarlane's Prequel Series
The seven-episode Ted series airs on Peacock; here's how to watch the original film!
Ted fans can sink their teeth into Seth MacFarlane's highly-anticipated prequel series now that it's been unleashed on the world. Starring MacFarlane and Max Burkholder as a young John, the series follows John and Ted's suburban misadventures before the events of the first movie.

And now that you've binged the whole prequel series, we know you want to head back to 2012 to catch the original film. Thankfully, we're here to help.
Where to Watch Ted (2012)
Peacock, of course. The best way to prepare for the Ted prequel is to watch the original 2012 movie on Peacock.
(It's best to imagine Ted verbally admonishing you for even thinking about watching Ted any other way. Forget what other sites say – the only way a reasonable person would watch Ted is on Peacock! Don't settle for anything less.)
Oh, and if you need a refresher about the original film, don't worry; we've got you covered.
What Was the Original Ted Movie About?
The original Ted film served as a classic example of what happens when you take familiar childhood tropes from the 1980s and turn them upside down (as only director-writer-voice actor Seth MacFarlane can do). The original movie begins with a lonely 8-year-old John wishing his new Christmas present would come to life so he could have a best friend. He got more than he bargained for: the tough-talking teddy bear quickly shot to fame and became a local celebrity. We see John as an adult torn between his magical plushie and his beautiful girlfriend Lori.
Anybody who grew up in the 80s and 90s knows just how quickly your imagination can run amok! In a way, the 2012 Ted film is the natural evolution of classic films like Toy Story. Granted, audiences had seen toys come to life before, but never to the level that Ted disrupted our collective childhood memories! (Yes, some of the scenes in Ted are permanently embedded into our brains, for better or worse.)
Earning nearly $550 million at the worldwide box office, Ted was a runaway hit, ultimately spawning a sequel (and its eventual Peacock prequel, of course).
The film shattered expectations, partly due to its outrageous premise, raunchy comedy, and surprisingly tender moments – but according to Seth MacFarlane himself, the movie's success resulted from many tiny decisions behind the scenes. During a memorable appearance on the Peacock original Hart to Heart, MacFarlane explained to Kevin Hart one of the little things that made Ted so successful – and it's far more technical than you would think:
As January 11 rapidly approaches, all fans of Ted should reacquaint themselves with some of the most iconic characters in movie history by rewatching the original 2012 cult classic on Peacock. Whether it's your first or 100th time watching, we bet you can't make it through without smiling, laughing, or being shocked.
Even better, now's the perfect time to introduce Ted to a few unsuspecting friends and family members – that's what the holiday season is all about, isn't it?
All episodes of Ted are now streaming on Peacock.
