A Chicago Fire romance is brewing between two Firehouse 51 teammates, and viewers were left swooning after a steamy smooch in the March 26 episode. As if that wasn't exciting enough, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) is excited to welcome a family member back to 51.

How to Watch

Watch Chicago Fire Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock

Ever since Severide's half-brother Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) joined the Chicago Fire fold in Season 11, he's emerged as a scene-stealer. That is thanks in part to his explosive chemistry with Firehouse 51 paramedic Lyla "Lizzie" Novak (Jocelyn Hudon). Their brewing romance was inevitable; they're both smart, charming, and attractive young first responders, so they gravitated toward each other from the start. Their relationship was sadly put on ice after Damon was forced to leave Firehouse 51, but after some career changes on his end, Damon and Novak just might be getting their chance to see fireworks.

Everything was coming up Damon by the end of Chicago Fire's latest. Read episode highlights, below:

Lizzie Novak put in a good word for Jack Damon

Damon has been having a tough go at it this season; after being blackballed by his previous station at Firehouse 20, Damon's been adrift within the CFD floater pool. During Fire's March 26 episode, Damon commiserated over his circumstances with his brother, telling Severide that he was worried about paying rent due to the lack of gigs.

Sure, Damon got kicked out of Firehouse 51 for immature nonsense, but he's made massive strides since. Damon's undeniable progress inspired Severide to ask his brother's former lieutenant (and sister-in-law), Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), if she thought it would be a good idea to bring him back.

Meanwhile, Damon continued to check for temporary positions at firehouses, bumping into his friend Briggs from Firehouse 36 at the job board. After Damon admitted his Firehouse 20 post didn't work, Briggs told him to keep his head up because he had fans out there. One of Brigg's friends told him he'd heard "great things" about Damon.

"Oh yeah?" Damon wondered. "From who?"

"I don't know," Briggs said. "Some medic named Kojak?"

"Novak?" Damon asked. "Lizzie Novak?"

"Yeah, that's her!" Briggs said. As Damon realized Novak was thinking fondly of him, he couldn't stop the smile from spreading across his face.

Novak and Damon's steamy Firehouse 51 kiss

Damon later visited his Firehouse 51 friends, running into Lizzie at the loading bay. "Hey!" Damon said. "I was hoping you'd be here."

Fresh off a tense call, Novak was thrilled to see Damon. "Are you here to see Severide or Kidd?" Novak asked. "Because I haven't been inside yet, but—"

"No, I was actually looking for you," Damon said, catching Novak pleasantly off guard. "I wanted to say thanks for hyping me up and putting in a good word for me with the guys over at 36."

"Oh, of course, yeah! They would be lucky to have you," Novak told him. "I mean, it was after a few tequila shots, so my memory is a little fuzzy. But whatever I said, I hope it helps."

"At this point, it can't hurt," Damon said.

"I don't know," Novak shrugged. "A referral from me could count against you with some people."

"Well, then those are people I don't want to work with," Damon said.

"I'm glad you stopped by," Novak smiled. "It's been pretty tense and sad around the house, and — you know what? We could use your help with something really quick."

"Yeah? Damon asked. "Whatever you need."

"OK, great, this will just take a sec," Novak said, closing the ambulance doors.

But just as Damon rounded the corner to follow Novak, she swirled around and kissed him deeply. Cue the applause from Chi-Hards everywhere.

"I 'gotta admit, I've been wanting to do that for a while," Novak whispered. "Now seem like a good time?"

"Perfect time, even," Damon said.

"Maybe we could pick this up after shift?" Novak asked, getting a resounding definitely from Damon.

It may have been a slow brew, but Damon and Novak have officially sealed their explosive chemistry with a kiss. By the episode's end, Severide and Stella agreed to invite Damon back to Firehouse on 51, curing his career woes and giving him ample time to snuggle up with Novak. What kind of sweet moments can we expect from Damon and Novak next? Only time will tell, but "Davak" sure has a nice ring to it.
