Elvis Presley & Martina McBride's Voices Go Perfect Together Singing "Blue Christmas"
The song may be blue, but it's got us feeling warm inside.
The song may be about a blue Christmas, but it makes the listener feel warm inside just thinking about the holidays. Thanks to the power of technology, country star Martina McBride was able to "duet" the late rock star Elvis Presley on the song "Blue Christmas," digitally inserting herself into footage of him performing the hit during his 1968 Comeback Special. She even dressed up in a period style and used a microphone from Presley's era.
The result is a charming country throwback perfect for fans of all ages. (If you're hungry for more McBride-Presley collaboration, she's also covered "Suspicious Minds.")
What to know about "Blue Christmas"
The song was written by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson. Originally released in 1948 and covered by other Artists, "Blue Christmas" achieved mainstream success after Presley included it on his 1957 LP Elvis' Christmas Album. It appeared again on The Beach Boys' 1964 Christmas album before Presley recorded it again, live, for the special. The track is now considered a staple of the Christmas music genre, where Presley and McBride both got their starts.

The lyrics to "Blue Christmas" by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson
I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won't be the same dear, if you're not here with me
And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue memories start calling
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas

But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas
