It looks like the Firehouse 51 squad needs to stay flexible for all the action packed Season 12 drama.

How to Watch

Watch the Season 13 premiere of Chicago Fire Wednesday, September 25 at 9/8c on NBC

On February 19, Chicago Fire gaffer and chief lighting technician, Anthony Lullo, gave us a behind the scenes glimpse of how Hanako Greensmith (Violet Mikami) warms up with a bit of yoga in between takes on set. In the picture, which was taken inside a gym, Greensmith executed a cobra pose, while Kara Killmer (Sylive Brett) sat down on the floor across from her and Jake Lockett (Carver) was caught mid-yawn. Hilariously, ''Milkshake'' by Kelis played over the photo.

The Chicago Fire team sure seems to be having a good time filming Season 12, as Killmer shared pictures of her and Greensmith embracing embracing Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd) while in costume during the first day of filming in November 2023.

"It's happening!" Killmer excitedly captioned her post.

Mayo also shared a sweet snapshot of her and Greensmith giving Killmer pecks on the cheek.

"FIRST DAY BACK I CAN'T STOP SMILING AND SCREAMING." Mayo wrote on her post.

Greensmith took a break from filming when she shared a post of her having a relaxing mountain getaway in December 2023. In the picture, she stood in front of a rocky mountain covered with snow while adorning shades and a baseball cap.

"Missing mountains… promise," she captioned the post.

Hanako Greensmith talks Hawkins' death on Chicago Fire

Chief Hawkins and Violet on Chicago Fire

In a 2022 interview with TV Insider, Greensmith opened up about how her character would come to process what would be eventually revealed as the death of Evan Hawkins, her on-screen partner. Hawkins died in Season 11, Episode 3, when he was crushed by falling rubble from a burning theater.

“That is a huge weight that comes with being a paramedic or even working in the medical field: having to accept that this is a lovely, warm, family-based television show. But in reality, you cannot save everybody that you’re trying to save,” she told the outlet.

She continued, “I think we try to highlight the reality of that as much as we can, and you’re going to see Violet have to come to terms with that in a really, really big way. Within the first few episodes, you’ll see her have to deal with a challenge that you haven’t seen her deal with before. I think that’s going to be exciting and sad all in one.”
