This year marks the 50th anniversary of the tourney, so you'll definitely want to tune in!
This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Players Championship golf tournament, one of the most important stops on the PGA Tour.
So what do you need to know before the tourney hits the NBC family of networks/streaming services next month? Let’s get into it.
When Is the 2024 PGA Players Championship?
The Players Championship, commonly known simply as The Players, will be held March 14 – 17, 2024.
Where Is the 2024 PGA Players Championship Being Held?
As we’ve come to expect, yet again The Players Championship will be held at the illustrious TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course, in the Jacksonville, Florida area of Ponte Vedra Beach.
The tournament has been held there since 1982, which is part of the reason it’s such an iconic course. While every hole presents its own unique challenges and awe-inspiring views, the signature hole is no doubt the 17th hole, a legendary par-3 with an “Island Green.”

What Is The Players Championship?
Originating in 1974, the Players Championship has become one of the most important stops on the tour, right up there with the four majors: the British Open, the U.S. Open, the Masters, and the PGA Championship. It boasts a high quality of participants, and this year's purse is $25 million.
Comcast Business is a Proud Partner of the Players Championship, in addition to Optum and Morgan Stanley.
"It's just special. This is our event. It's the strongest field in golf. These are all the guys we play against throughout the year... top players, guys that played well last year, are currently playing well. And we're home at TPC Sawgrass; this is a proper test you haven't seen necessarily," 2015 champion Ricky Fowler told NBC's Mike Tirico last year. "Long hitters win, or short hitters, there's been a good variety, the golf course does a great job of whoever's playing well, those guys are gonna have a chance."

With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the event, you can be sure the players will be extra motivated to win. But they’ll have to knock off last year’s champion, the current No. 1 ranked golfer in the world, American Scottie Scheffler, who shot a blistering 3-under 69 in his final round and won the 2023 Players Championship, and the richest purse on the PGA Tour, by six strokes. But the big names generally rise to the occasion, so expect Jordan Spieth, John Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa and a plenty of others to challenge Scheffler every shot of the way.
