The Cast of Migration Shake Their Tail Feathers in This Special Holiday Message
The catchiest song of the season might just be from a flock of birds in this new Migration cover of "I Love You Always Forever."
The ‘90s hit “I Love You Always Forever” is such a feel-good song, it’s no wonder that our sweet, feathered friends from the upcoming movie Migration chose to cover it. Take one look at this festive video on YouTube, and you’ll instantly fall in love with the tune and the Mallard duck family, who stars in Illumination's much-anticipated animated feature, premiering nationwide on December 22. Chances are, images of the charming birds will be living rent-free in your head for hours, or even days, to come.
The video opens with Gwen Mallard (Tresi Gazal), the duck daughter of Pam (Elizabeth Banks) and Mack (Kumail Nanjiani). As she’s standing on a string of holiday lights on a snowy night, she’s joined by some of New York City’s finest: Central Park pigeons. Although the city-hardened pigeons are cut from a different cloth than the New England duck family, in the video, it is one big love fest as they harmonize during the lyrics, “Everywhere I will be with you. Everything I will do for you.”

Even Uncle Dan (Danny DeVito) gets into the holiday spirit (well, sort of) as the pigeons use his fluffy duck belly as a drum and awkwardly toss him up and down against a night sky background. He’s one tough duck, so we know he can handle it. Meanwhile, the family’s son Dax (Caspar Jennings) gets a hug from sister Gwen as their parents shake their tail feathers and pull off a few dramatic dance moves that you’ll get to see more of in the movie.
The video gives us a little glimpse into the personalities at the center of Migration, a story about a duck family who one day decide to make their “Caribbean vacation” dreams a reality. Mom Pam is the driving force of the decision to leave their serene pond, urging her cautious husband, Mack, to “open your eyes before you miss it all.” The adventures in store as they fly South for the winter are often hilarious and sometimes daunting, and the ducks learn many important lessons on this unconventional family vacay.
The hit song “I Love You Always Forever” was first released in 1996 by Welsh singer Donna Lewis and shot to the top of the charts, with Billboard ranking it as one of the best pop songs of all time. Sure, the pigeons might be a tiny bit off-key, but we think the Migration version gives the original a run for its money.
