Kelly Clarkson Makes a Shocking Confession About Why She Hardly Wears Makeup
The talk show host got charmingly honest — and we love it.
Kelly Clarkson doesn't need makeup to be beautiful, so she doesn't wear it, simple as that.
On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the former The Voice Coach explained why she eschews cosmetics during her off-duty hours, and her reasoning just makes so much sense.
Kelly Clarkson and Naomi Watts don't overdo it on makeup
Playing "In My Honest Opinion," a game where they talk candidly about various topics, Clarkson and her guest Naomi Watts agreed that makeup is best saved for special occasions. Since they both wear it for public appearances, during off-hours, Watts said, "I’m very into…letting my skin breathe."
Clarkson fully agreed, even shockingly admitting, "I don’t even own makeup in my house. Someone was like ‘do you have—?’ No, I don’t."

"I don’t wear it. I go out to dinner — I have to wear it for work all the time and it’s already, like, a lot," the singer explained. Watts mentioned that she likes to dye her naturally light eyebrows darker for a bit of definition, to which Clarkson hilariously responded, "I think I’m just a choose your own adventure. When you’re looking at my face, what do you think the eyebrows should look like? Cool. Make it look like that for you, because I’m not doing any extra work." She added, "apathy is a beautiful thing."
Clarkson showed off her bare face reflecting on The Voice
Her no-makeup vibe is no joke. During a recent chat on Kylie Kelce's podcast, the "Behind These Hazel Eyes" belter kept things all-natural with no makeup, tucking her hair into a trucker hat. While there, she reflected on the experience of going from singing competition contestant to Coach, and how she and fellow The Voice Coach Jennifer Hudson had special connections with their teams during the season they spent sitting side by side in the red chairs. (Clarkson coached on The Voice from Seasons 14 through 21, and Season 23; Hudson in Season 13 and 15.)

During the chat, Clarkson called her experience on The Voice "So great, I love it," adding, "I wouldn’t have stopped doing the show had I not moved across the country.”
Being able to relate to exactly what her team was going through — being judged on high-pressure performances on a massive stage — helped her understand their experiences, and probably led to her winning her first two seasons.
